Learning Object Manager User Permissions

You must grant the appropriate Learning Object Manager User Permissions to the Administrators who are responsible for managing Learning Object Manager. You can grant all Learning Object Manager-related permissions by granting the Manage Learning Object Manager User Permission, or you can grant or deny specific Learning Object Manager-related sub permissions as needed. On the ControlPanel:

  1. Click   on the Users menu to expand it.
  2. Click Users.
  1. Click next to a User.
  2. Click next to Manage Learning Object Manager to expand the list of permissions.
  3. Click the check box next to a permission to grant it to the Administrator.
    or
    Clear the check box to deny the permission to the Administrator.
  4. Click Save.

Each permission is described below.

Permission

Description

Manage Learning Object Manager

Grant this permission to any Admin responsible for working with the Learning Object Manager (LOM). If you deny Admins this permission, they will not have access to the LOM features. Granting this permission automatically grants the sub permissions associated with it.

Allow Force Check In

Enables Admins to force the checking in of a Learning Object previously checked out by another author. This permission is useful if an author has checked out a Learning Object, but has left for a vacation or an illness without checking the object back in. Admins who have been granted this permission can check in the object on behalf of the original author. If you deny Admins this permission, they will not be able to force the check in of a Learning Object.

Allow Force Publish

Enables Admins to force the publishing of a Learning Object previously Unpublished by another author. This permission is useful if an author has checked out a Learning Object, but has left for a vacation or an illness without checking the object back in. Admins who have been granted this permission can Publish the object on behalf of the original author. If you deny users this permission, they will not be able to force the publishing of a Learning Object.

Use Learning Object Manager

Grants Admins access to the LOM. If you deny users this permission, they will not be able to use the LOM.
